  1. Our War on Drugs made the cartels bigger than the Mexican government. Obama threw gas on the fire, but our policies have directly or indirectly been immensely destructive to Mexico. People complain about how corrupt Mexico is, but the corruption is all funded, ultimately, by creating a huge black market for illegal drugs. We need to take a HEALTH approach to drug addiction, rather than LAW-ENFORCEMENT approach. If you're trying to enforce laws that millions are going to violate every day, all it feeds is corruption and militarization of law enforcement, while at the same time funneling billions of dollars into the pockets of drug lords.
