  1. Until they figure out how to actually oversee the overseers. What you feel about FISA applies to any security-related federal agencies. I watched the Trey Gowdy hearings (more than I wanted), and every time they got close to the meat of the subject, the FBI/DOJ cited "national security" and shut down the entire line of inquiry. Over and over and over again. It was obvious that Congress had no ability to oversee the security state. But it's not just national security. Congress is unequipped (and often self-interested) in its oversight of EPA, USDA, ATF, you name it. That's why I have to part way with Jimmy on domestic-policy issues other than security issues. The government does more to prop up bad actors than to protect us from bad actors. It's the nature of the bureaucratic beast. Ultimately, the best protection for the people is to avoid creating these agencies that make policy for the whole country behind closed doors.

The audience was just a bunch of tribalists, who were all too willing to see James Comey as their intrepid hero, risking all to save the United States of America from the evil clutches of pee-tape Trump! i'm not a big fan of Aaron Maté's commentary, because of all his socialist delusions, but I sure would love it if we were having a REAL conversation about foreign policy and just exactly what Israel is up to. I don't believe anything that comes from Palestine, from either side. I could really use a good, thorough history on the region before and after World War II. The West has always had this sense of entitlement about The Holy Lands, apparently based in the highly politicized writings of wise men in the freakin' Bronze Age, who had no conception of powered flight, let alone the world political situation of the 21st Century.

But selling it to the FBI, CIA and State Dept (and other agencies) as a predicate for an unprecedented spy op on the nominee for the opposing political party is pure Democrat. Spending years on a special prosecutor and millions of dollars chasing people BASED on un-verified oppo research is pure Deep State, baby. Abusing prosecutorial powers to try to manufacture a soft coup is pure Democrat, and purely unprecedented. I'm sorry, but you and your sort have failed in muddying the waters sufficiently to give the Obama administration a free pass.
