Trump and Putin are right. U.S. foreign-policy, intelligence and military establishment are entirely based on 1945 realities. Over the last 80 years, a business model emerged for profiting from that reality, and they will never admit that reality no longer exists, because the illusion is the source of immense power and profits.

@josnijsten8731 We pretty much became fascist in the name of fighting fascism. But unlike the progressive fans of Jimmy Dore, to me, fascism is just a different branding of state-controlled collectivism, i.e., socialism. That's the trap progressives are in. They know they don't trust the big corporations and government bureaucrats, but they see no way out other than to empower the politicians who enabled the corporate take-over in the first place. Every 3-letter agency to protect us from robber barons does everything it can to protect robber barons from the people. It has always been this way, since the Interstate Commerce Commission was created. Instead of having to hide their BS from EVERYbody, all an abusive corporation has to do is bribe, blackmail or flatter a handful of feckless politicians and bureaucrats.

@Chill_Im_Probably_Trolling It's OK for you to be right about foreign policy but to be a nincompoop about socialism. Maybe COVID taught you nothing. You do NOT want your health care determined by bureaucrats, and that's what you're asking for when you ask for socialized medicine. Yes, we should care for our weakest members of society, but we should do it from the ground up, not from the top down, or we'll have Fauci's telling YOUR doctor what they can and can't treat you for and what treatments are and are not permitted. It's an illusion. What progressives don't understand is that fascism is built on the tripod of state-run media, education and medicine. When you have all 3 under state control (which we essentially have, today), the people will believe ANYthing, first of all because they WANT to believe, second of all because that's all they KNOW to believe, and third, because to depart in any way from the state's positions is to risk losing your health care and free education. Progressives just don't get that the government isn't their friend, even though they'll spend hours listening to Jimmy Dore explaining how corrupt the establishment is. Do you REALLY want those motherfuckers teaching your kids and telling your doctor what to do? If you want the poor to be provided for, give YOUR money and encourage others to do the same. Don't hold all of us at gunpoint for your one-size-fits-all, bureaucratic, government-centered solutions. They're not real solutions. They're hopium.

The high cost and limited access to education and health care are BECAUSE of government intervention. You want something better, wean yourself off the federal tit and do some actual charitable work in your local community. Quit looking for the feds to fix all your problems. You KNOW they're asshats. You prove it every day on your show. Then you turn right around and campaign for Med-4-All and student loan forgiveness. Please stop dreaming up new ways for the stuffed-shirts to steal everything I've worked and saved for.

@enverhoxha2698 That's not a feature of capitalism. It's a feature of robber barons in league with the government, i.e., socialism/fascism. The economy must GROW in order to pay for all the shit the socialists/demagogues promise, and, of course, for war. USA is perfectly situated to be 100% self-sufficient and sustainable. But enough is never enough with the big-government types. If we live sustainably, they lose power. Property tax "for education" is how you make sure poor people don't get to own land and live off their land. That's not enough. You must produce MORE than you need simply for the right to EXIST.

@MMAfighter38113 Qaddafi was mellowing into something of a statesman, planning on moving to gold standard currency and thumbing his nose at the IMF and world bankers. Kind of like Menachem Begin starting out as a "terrorist" and eventually signing peace accords with Sadat at Camp David. It was well-known that Syria was next on the hit list after Libya. Trump disrupted that. Even his "missile strikes" in Syria were done rather gently. He gave plenty of warning when and where, almost as if it was purely symbolic. But he was still the creature of his advisors to too great an extent.

@rongt859 Our wonderful progressive president Woodrow Wilson got us into WW I, which was just another in an endless string of petty bickerings between cousins in Europe. None of our business. Our participation in WW I made our participation in WW II necessary, although in hindsight, I'm not sure we shouldn't've just let the Soviets and the Nazis kill each other off.

@DrWrapperband It's not stupidity. It's called living life. Life isn't about the politicians, although they want to be the center of everything. And they've been very successful. First advice I would give to a progressive is "Don't look to politicians for solutions. Fix your corner of the world and be content."

@stanspb763 Russia is more like America used to be than America is, now. They're even openly and aggressively Christian. I think it's a culture war they're fighting with Islam. They want traditional Christian values as a counter-weight to Islam, and it appears to be working. I think it's sheer pragmatism on the part of Putin's government. The "traditional Russian Orthodox" angle also gives them historical claims to parts of Turkey they want, in order to lay claim to Mediterranean beachfront property, which Russia has been denied by Western Europe for centuries and by the USA and NATO for the past 80 years. Russia is also on a sound financial footing, by most accounts. Basically a gold-standard currency, budget surpluses, etc. They don't waste money on the sex life of the snail darter or bringing LGBT and transgender messages to Pakistan. Yes. Our country is spending money to "liberalize" Pakistan. I'd be interested in knowing how the quality of health care is in Russia. It was terrible under the Soviets. Nobody wanted to be a doctor, because socialist promises always end up cheating someone, and in the USSR, they cheated the doctors. Most doctors dreamed of being farmers.
