Chinese people can't invest in anything except real estate. USA needs someone to float its debt. We should sell Treasury bonds to the Chinese people! If we can't engineer some sort of deal like that, the USA may not be able to service its debts.

Europe has engineered its society and economy into irrelevancy. All of their social experiments have been under the umbrella of U.S.-guaranteed security. So they could adopt all kinds of dangerous and stupid economic pipe dreams and still come out looking pretty good. I think the lunatic open-borders ideology really put their social safety nets in jeopardy. A lot of what seemed to work, economically, for Europe, only worked because of the culture and self-responsibility of the people. Import a bunch of people who don't share those values, and you upset the balance. At this point, I don't think Europe CAN take over from the USA. It doesn't have the industrial base to pull it off, especially with Green policies that systematically cripple all their heavy industries.

The fact is, right or wrong, we made ourselves dependent on Chinese products. I think we should wean ourselves off a good bit of it, but not before we know what we're going to replace their products with. But we don't need a trade war and we certainly don't need a hot war with ANY major power or super power, especially in their back yard, which is where the USA does all its fighting, which makes the people a lot more OK with what they're doing, like the French people were when Napoleon Bonaparte was dominating the continent. They weren't bad people. They were just told that it was the "right thing to do," "Isn't Bonaparte charismatic?" and most of all "There's nothing anybody can do to stop us." They enjoyed some great economic benefits from the spoils of Europe, and so they didn't ask many questions about right or wrong, because things were good and seemingly going to keep getting better, forever...
