  2. To be fair, the governments that are abusing their power and pursuing anti-human(ist) policies were ELECTED by more or less populist means. They promised the world (Jimmy's a sucker for free health care) to the voters, and the voters elected them. Now the voters are getting what any student of history rightly expected: Incompetence and endless government overreach and creeping (now BLATANT) authoritarianism. But what did you big-government fans think was going to happen when you gave someone else responsibility for your well-being? Of COURSE that granted them AUTHORITY over you. And now you're all surprised that every government official and bureaucrat isn't a freaking saint! LOL! They're the exact sort of climbers you don't want to give that kind of power to. You're like Charlie Brown, believing that Lucy will let him kick that football THIS time. smh. Insanity and/or ignorance is what got us here, and just recognizing how bad things are doesn't mean you're any closer to real solutions. There ARE no real solutions. Only trade-offs. The world isn't perfect, and government has no magic wand to make it so. But limited government gets us closer to something better than anything else ever attempted by humanity. And we spit on that lesson, thinking we need to just move even farther from liberty and self-responsibility. Will we fuck it up? Sure. But no one of us could fuck things up for everybody everywhere, if the federal government were properly shackled.
