  1. The Republican Party has been a lost cause since it nominated George HW Bush, who was basically a Democrat with a CIA background. They gave up on "low taxes and limited government" in order to compete with Democrats making socialist arguments for big government and winning elections with it. The same thing happened throughout Europe. Why vote for a responsible candidate when another candidate is promising your Free Stuff? I always voted against the socialist types, but a majority of Americans want the government to protect them from the Human Condition, like the Government is God or something. And the politicians love that. 4 or 5 generations into this big-government madness, the deluded outnumber the sane.
