Russiagate provided a smoke screen, and it kept Trump from going after the swamp creatures who made the whole thing up to cover for Hillary and a bunch of Obama admin cronies and other deep state insiders, until Barr finally told Mueller to wrap it up. Some of the worst people involved were on the Mueller team (like Weissman) and they couldn't go after ANY of them, because of the obstruction shit storm it would trigger.
