  1. Before the feds took over everything, communities held fund-raising events to help the local hospital, a point of community pride. Feds have cut us off from each other. We don't look to ourselves or to help our neighbors. We run crying to the federal government every time we skin our knee, and we wonder why we're treated like children. You can't have freedom if you're always looking for something "free" from the feds. We always end up paying double, and crises turn into chronic problems, with permanent bureaucracies that take on a life of their own, and serve their OWN interests rather than the purpose for which they were created. Progressives don't understand this. All they see is "Free Stuff" and they're on board.
