  1. You only get counted as unemployed if you put in for unemployment insurance after losing your job. When the benefits run out, you leave the rolls and are no longer counted. Now, you're "chronically unemployed," so they stop counting you. At least that's how it used to be counted. I don't have any idea how they count it, now. I remember when gas prices were soaring so they took gas prices out of the consumer price index. Lots of crooked accounting goes in the reporting of numbers. And presidents for the last umpteen administrations have always tried to pump printed money into the economy for a growth spurt. The growth spurt ends in inflation, but NASDAQ and DJIA look really good for election season.
