Humans do pollute. All animal species pollute. We could live with less negative impact on the planet.
However, vastly expanding our lithium, copper, zinc, cobalt, and rare earth mining, with all of the air and water pollution associated with those activities, is cutting off your nose to spite your face. EVs have a place, but government trying to make ALL of us switch to EVs is not only wrong-headed, but it's physically impossible.
This characterizes the entire Green Agenda. And it gets in the way of our living with a smaller footprint on Ma Earth. So many things people could do that don't require raping the planet or forcing billions into poverty (and preventing billions from rising up from poverty).
Government agencies put roadblocks in front of sensible solutions, like mass-heat systems that use heat-exchangers on the chimney of your furnace that pump that heat into a large mass (basically masonry or even a pile of dirt), that will radiate heat back into the home for hours after the furnace is turned off (or the fireplace goes out).
But good luck building something like that for YOUR home. Good luck getting homeowners insurance for YOUR home, if you do anything like that. That's how the government stops you from reducing your power/gas bill by up to 90%.
They're not serious about saving the planet or reducing emissions. Just look at Zuckerberg's 400-foot yacht, powered by 4 giant diesel engines, or Al Gore's family compound with the carbon footprint of a large town, or Bill Gates flying his private jet to Davos for a conference on climate change, ....
