@kpag3030 : Yup. That's why I think Google either cleans up its act, or people are going to migrate away from its platforms. But it's deeply entrenched in academe and other big institutions, because it offers so much free stuff, and so major institutions see a cheap way to do things. I'm sure Google operates at a loss in order to gain hegemony, and that may be what sinks their boat in anti-trust filings against them.

@MichaelMikeTheRussianBot : That's a good idea. That's also why I don't like government running any of that shit. People WANT green, and companies that innovate for green are going to do well. After the crash in 2008, I let my retirement portfolio ride. I spread my contribution pretty wide, and put 20% of the whole into the "Social Responsibility" category, which included green tech and such. Nothing fancy. I just chose how much went into each category, and then it was divided amongst mutual funds from each category. My social responsibility stock out-performed everything else. If one company does something like plant trees out of its profits, that's a major selling point. Now you might complain that ALL companies would start acting like they're socially responsible, and I'd say "That's good!" Under government edict, you will get the absolutely shittiest product for as cheap as fucking possible, made by the people who are best at following the letter while violating the spirit.

Conservatives DEFINITELY get more bans and de-monetizations, etc., for no reason. But yeah. If you're on the left and you're not fibrillating about Russia and Trump's conspiracy with Russia, you're not going to show up in the "Trending" or "Recommended" or show up in a Google search before the 4th or 5th page. Good conservatives and good progressives have more in common with each other than with either of the 2 major parties. Progressives are brain-dead socialists when it comes to economics, but they totally get the military-industrial complex and violence abroad. Progressives are the first to bitch when government is fucking up, but they're the first to demand that incompetent bureaucrats run everything in the first place, which is just insane, to me.
