  3. This is the nature of government and power. It's like these guys read no history. Of COURSE the power gets abused. Of course there are unintended consequences to the use of government (force). The key to life (and self-governance) is to set up the conditions to ALLOW good things to happen, rather than imposing your righteous will on others.

  4. Maybe so. He's acting all shocked like he just heard about it, but this has been in the news for a good long while. Glad he's getting it out to his sizable audience, but he's coming to it pretty late. Bush was more circumspect in his abuse of the anti-terror powers, but it sounds like the Obama administration just took it for granted they could do as they pleased.
