  1. Balony yourself. Israel was (re-)created by force, against the wishes and without the consent of those who had lived there for centuries. Those people have been in a very lopsided war for statehood ever since 1947, against an Israel backed by American might and money. For Israel's part, they've been a nation under siege since 1947. I don't blame Israelis or Palestinians for the situation. I do blame the arrogant West for believing it's their job (and right) to re-draw the map of the Middle East at its whim. We've pulled this same crap everywhere in the region, and we wring our hands about terrorism. We need to learn some history and look in the mirror. I hear people on both sides going on and on, but everybody really seems to have an axe to grind or one side or the other to support, when I think it's none of our damn business and never has been.

  2. He ain't totally lyin'. Golan Heights? Missile attacks on Tel-Aviv. $o they captured it. Missile attacks from southern Lebanon. $o they attacked Lebanon. I don't blame them. I blame the Allies for keeping the Middle East at perpetual war with itself, by ignoring promises of statehood to all but one tribe. Of course that begs the question "Who are the British to decide how the map of the region should be drawn in the first place?" Much as I support statehood and self-determination, I don't think it's something the West should dole out at its whim. Where to go from here? I don't know. But I'm pretty sure that business as usual will empower radical elements inside and outside Israel, with external powers playing each against the other for their own gain (OIL).
