  1. Their actions speak much louder than their words. You know who owned cars and 2nd and 3rd homes in the USSR? Government officials and industrialists. That's the direction we're headed, which is why I preach against progressive economic models. You don't solve poverty and deprivation by putting government in charge. What progressives always do is put the people they despise and distrust the most in control of more and more sectors of the economy, and then they say the solution is to put those same power-mad clowns in charge of even MORE services. You know what creates the best service at the lowest price? The free market.

  2. Crypto is sort of bad for the environment, with all the people mining for it. Servers running day and night. Massive buildings with massive ventilation systems, running scores or hundreds or thousands of CPUs trying to find the key to unlock more crypto. The more it goes up, the more profitable such activities become, regardless of the cost of the electricity. They ought to turn those buildings into housing and use the heat off the CPUs as their furnace! LOL! Just big, empty buildings, except for the CPUs mining for something that doesn't even exist. Seems wrong-headed, somehow.

  3. Hilarious riff on Warren. It's low-hanging fruit, of course, but good writing. Yeah. Read Chaucer for the "indulgences" thing. A pair of travelers who went everywhere together were "The Pardoner" and "The Summoner." "And then, with various jibes and japes, he made the parson and people his apes." The Summoner would threaten rich people with excommunication and the pardoner would collect the indulgences, which he then split with his partner in crime.
