You choose to legislate on everything under the sun, and then you rail against the presence of industry executives in your offices. The alternative is legislating without ANY input from the people who actually know how things are made and how the world works. In a Progressive's mind, not only should you pass laws on every freaking thing imaginable, but you must remain ignorant on such topics, as well, One of many left-wing Catch-22's, with more on the way every day!   2. I agree it's corrupting. That's why you want full transparency and free markets. The market corrects for bullshit as fast or faster than the societal substrate on which it resides. The government is always going to be behind, and the faster we evolve, the farther behind government becomes. But by all means, let lawyers who specialize in popularity contests decide how cars are built, food is grown and brought to our tables, and our health care is run.

  3. At some point, we need to take the decisions out of the hands of the least competent and least honest among us. Limit the power and scope of government and watch how things get better, seemingly on their own. It's not really all by itself, but it seems like that to people whose imaginations are limited by what government can do (and is willing to teach them in government-run schools).
