  2. Google is basically the new Windows NT, giving away free stuff, and telling everyone how secure they are, while being full of holes, and then telling everyone all the things they CAN'T do. Back when NT hijacked all academic institutions with "free stuff," LINUX was cheaper, simpler, had tons more functionality and more robust security. Nothing scares me more than Google insisting on syncing everything for my convenience.

  9. Reallocate resources from Diversity, Inclusion and Equity (DIE!) and other government commissars embedded in ALL large institutions, today, and hire more IT staff and pay them! But the corporate model is adding more and more non-productive administrators who know NOTHING about the role and mission of the institution and running IT on a shoestring. During my career, organizational charts at my institution have exploded at the middle and top administrator levels and full-time frontline workers have been cut to the bone and asked to do more every year. They hire 6-figure drones at the drop of a hat, who don't know their asses from a hole in the ground, and tell the frontline workers all the things that simply can't be done because they're too expensive.
