In the USA you can't buy an efficient compact pickup truck, because they don't get good enough gas mileage for their wheelbase, but you CAN buy a gas-guzzling mid-sized or full-sized pickup truck that gets much worse mileage, because under EPA rules, vehicles will longer and wider wheelbases don't have to comply with the restriction. This isn't about saving the planet. This is about tyranny of the bureaucracy.
