Cheap credit. Yes. A lot of struggling companies across many industries have gone woke for almost-free credit.

@Pomdownuder In my case, I will probably get a different engine. If I'm going to spend the money, I'm switching to the 3.4 L from my 3.0 L (also called 3.slow engine). But the current issue with the original 3.0 L appears to be a clogged injector. Hopefully some injector cleaner will clear it up. Otherwise, I'll have to tear into it. But compression's good on all the cylinders, and all it should require is a new injector. Probably replace all of them, since the engine will be broken down to access the one injector. I admire good mechanics. I'm JUST knowledgeable enough to fuck everything up.

@aliendroneservices6621 Depends on make and model. Also depends on service records. Mostly, it depends on having a good mechanic check everything out.

@jakefriesenjake I'm sure you left something out! mmmmmm. Yes. Here's one: Because EVs are heavier, they wear out the roads faster. Most of the roads are basically made of petroleum and aggregate.

I dunno. What's the going price of a backup battery bank to power a home? You'd reap a harvest of microchips and copper, on top of that. Just bury it far enough from your house that it won't burn up.

My guess is they were already in trouble and needed an infusion of cash, which ESG creditors were only too happy to provide.

$800 is ridiculously low cost for a new/rebuilt engine. The people pushing EVs are also trying to make it harder and harder to repair ICE vehicles.

@Noah_E Yes. And it's all done in the name of saving the planet. What would really save the planet is cars that last a long time and are easy to repair. But the environmental hypocrites want you to buy a new car every 4 or 5 years (or less).
