  1.  @Jayandhis25cents  : Hard to say what drove 'em out onto the lake. Maybe the racket from their eventual savior's snowmobile (or dirt bike). Maybe he already saved them, temporarily, by scaring away the wolves that were chasing them. But they sure were helpless out on that ice.

  5. When I camped up on the ridge, away from the noise of the river, these sorts of cries sounded like babies crying. I didn't know WTF it was, but it was creepy. Not 2 of them arguing over poontang/territory, but one that just sounded like a baby crying. I figured it was a mountain lion. Now, I'm pretty sure it was a lynx. Very creepy. Amazing how the masking noise of the river gives you a false sense of security. When you can hear EVERYthing in those woods (Clearwater National Forest), it's hard to settle down to sleep.
