  1. Nazi Germany had something similar. "Autarchy" was their reason/call for expansion. Heck, self-sufficiency was why the Mongol hordes devastated most of the known world. All it took was a prolonged drought, too many people, and too little grass.

  3. Serves US right for expecting all these free platforms to actually be free. It's our own stinginess that has them following big corporate dollars. We're their product, not their customers. It's the big advertisers who are dictating content on Big Tech platforms, turning them into the same quagmire as cable t.v. Ironically, we're still buying products from the companies that advertise on corporate media.
