  2. Honestly, I don't think Trump much cared about Nordstream 2. It just was a total contradiction of all the security arrangements we have with NATO to defend Europe from Russia (actually, the Soviet Union). You don't depend on your enemy for gas and oil. Regardless of all the green-tech propaganda, Europe has an insatiable appetite for fossil fuels, as do all the liberals up and down the Eastern seaboard of the USA who FREAKED when the Colonial Pipeline got hacked. I think it's FINE if the Euros want to buy gas and oil from Russia. I also think we should pull all our troops out of Europe and quit paying billions every year to protect them. We use our support of NATO to coerce NATO countries into supporting our military adventurism everywhere, especially in the Middle East. Our foreign-policy and national-security apparatus are still living a 1947 reality that hasn't existed since the 1980s, and even THEN, they were over-estimating the Soviet military threat by a factor of 10. I was a hawk in the 1980s, and I believed the intel community's estimates. It turns out it was all nonsense, just a narrative to keep weapons manufacturers fat and happy.
