  2. They're not perfect. But they offer a vitally important alternative to the moribund Cold-Warrior neocon/neolib malignancies infesting our intel and foreign-policy agencies. It ALWAYS blows back. It ALWAYS erodes USA's moral high ground. After Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, Syria (and that's just RECENTLY), it's impossible to see the USA as the good guys. We BECAME our enemy(ies). We're fascist imperialists, trending to communists, as we speak, while condemning both with our forked tongues.

  3. I'm too old to be enraged. I'm numb. Propping up corrupt regimes for strategic/economic/imperial purposes has a LONG history in U.S. foreign and security policy. The Shah of Iran, numerous dictatorships in Africa, tinpot dictators in Central and South America. It's always for short-term gain, and it's always absolutely TOXIC over the long run: bad for the USA and the nations we meddle with.
