If your kid is a born psychopath or sociopath, there's not much you can do. But even parents who seem to be doing a good job aren't.

@Lee Making your kids "earn it" was one of the things Henry Ford did with his kids, which was how his son was able to keep running the company when he retired. Simple stuff, like a penny for taking out the trash or mowing the lawn. A penny was worth a lot more in those days, of course. But pay for chores that are reasonable to expect of a kid who's big enough to do them is a good idea. I did those chores for MY folks, but all I got was Dad letting me live another day. LOL!

@lovesallanimals9948 The uni-party agreed on a lot of stuff, but the Democrats pushed the growth of government beyond the point it could be sustained, and empowering agencies that now tyrannize us in the name of whatever self-inflicted crisis comes along. But I'd agree that the public schools have always been about indoctrination in government-approved narratives. And it's Democrats who want the government to do more, when it's already done far too much.

Most kids would prefer and benefit from Dad being around, more. Working overtime to "make ends meet" is self-defeating. Most celebrities and major historical figures get that famous by working really hard at it, at the expense of their kids. Ben Franklin's sons barely knew him.
