I was raised in the Church and taught to believe Jesus was God's son, and therefore perfect. Whatever I believe, now, I carry that archetype with me, and try to do and be as perfect as possible. Going from the notion of an idealized and perfect human, who is love, incarnate, is pretty good for me. The old "What would Jesus do?" saw serves me well, when I'm about to fly off the handle at somebody, for instance.
Going from that to arguing over "Christ is King" is rather amusing. That's when you see good ideas turning into dogma and cult-like behavior. You only have these frictions (seemingly) between people who are grifting off their supposed beliefs, and seeking to influence many people, and most of all, make a living from it, like every single preacher passing a collection plate every Sunday.
