The RNC came across pretty neocon and regressive. I don't think that's how Trump will govern, but I don't like the forever-war foreign policy they basically signed on for, as a party. I also don't think the idea is to populate bloated government with like-minded people, but to SLASH bloated government.
I think they're missing the broad middle of the country that doesn't support wars in the Middle East, or the genocide in Gaza. But is that posture really how Trump would operate? He's the kind of salesman that will make it sound like he's 100% in Israel's corner, but then sit down privately with Netanyahu and say "I really want to help you, but my hands are tied if you keep on killing people. I can bring you Saudi Arabia as a friend, if you end the apartheid."
We need to get a handle on defense and entitlements. We need to be ready for a huge slug of Boomers wanting their social security, with a smaller next generation there to pay for it. The Ponzi scheme has run its course, and we need to do something about it that won't beggar our children and grandchildren.
The establishment doesn't fear Trump will become a dictator. They fear that he will break THEM. There're a lot of people who make a whole lot of money under the status quo, and every one of them enriches themselves in the millions by taking billions and trillions from us taxpayers, and it's got to stop.

The most proximal threat to women's rights at the moment, particularly lesbians' rights, is the transgender movement. Republicans made peace with LGB during the AIDS crisis. They thought it was a sin, many of them, but they couldn't turn their backs on good people with good hearts wasting away in misery. They just couldn't hold on to their hate, any longer, and once the hate was gone, society never looked back.
The big battle, now, is between the LGBT and all the rest. True transsexuals do not like the direction the transgender and queer agendas are taking the movement. The old-school LGBT are saying "Leave the kids alone!" and if you're a man, "Don't compete in women's sports." along with the rock-ribbed Republicans. The Republicans have the high ground on those two debates, defending women and children.
Sometimes MTG is over the top and I can't go there. Sometimes, she's letter-perfect in calling out the hypocrisy and wrong-headedness of the left. As a classical liberal, I find myself more on the Republican side on most things, but some of what comes out of Republicans, including MTG, is a bit cringe.
