They know how they've weaponized every agency and institution at their disposal to obtain and hold power, and they're terrified that someone else could swoop in and take over control of weaponized agencies. Imagine a DOJ under the control of a vengeful Donald Trump, who knows he's been wronged and knows where the bodies are buried. They fear the same 3 am door knocks they so gleefully delivered to Trump and his associates. And they've got a lot more to hide than Trump or his associates ever did.
