Burned nerve receptors are not unique to the feminine side. It just depends on how many times YOU were the one who got rejected, after sincerely opening your heart, body and pocketbook to someone you thought was The One. I would say that it's more of a pair bond for the women, but it's just a matter of degree. We both have 99.99% the same brain. I just think a female is more likely to see that first time as giving her heart to someone. There's some of that in males, but with males it's an "She was my first, and now I know how it's done." Very few males' first experiences are with the girl they would marry at the first opportunity.
The way men look at it, they know how young/inexperienced THEY are, and how far THEY are from supporting a family, so a girl who gives it up to someone so low on the totem pole is not wife material. "I'm a schmuck with no job. And SHE fell for me! She can't be that special." A man approaching women from an "I'm ready to go all in, with the wherewithal to support it and I WANT to do it" attitude, looks at women entirely differently. He KNOWS he's the prize, and he isn't giving it up to just anybody. Just wife material, and how she thinks about raising kids. What the deal-breakers are on discipline. Is she capable of maintaining standards AND positive regard?
