I'm glad I got out of Colorado. The smaller towns are still great places with great, hard-working, honest people. But it was time to get out in 2022, when housing prices were spiking. I sold at a good time, and just in time. Lived in a quiet neighborhood that was being invaded by a bunch of big apartment complexes. I loved that place. After rush hour, things got quiet and stayed quiet 'til morning rush. Now, not so much. Thanks, Barack. We fought the development as long as we could, but "It's good for diversity, racist" won the day.

Developers aren't going to come in and revitalize anything, because the property owners would rather let them sit empty than lower their asking prices for sale or rent. Nobody can afford to buy or rent at those prices, because the revenue from a commercial property is so out of line with the cost of commercial property. Eventually the dam will break. But right now, we're witnessing a lot of "walking dead."

The rich used to be able to write off most of NYC taxes on their federal forms. That ended in 2017, I believe. That used to be how NYC lived beyond its means for decades. Now, it's not getting that massive federal subsidy. But it's worse than that. They're also implementing one catastrophically bad (woke) policy after the other.

Democrats were unanimous about open borders and sanctuary cities in 2020. I thought they were insane. I was right. Now, the Democrat Party has lost all credibility.

Yes, wasting money on migrants is stupid, but housing projects never turn out well, either. We already tried it in the '60s and '70s. You just make it possible for more homeless people to converge on your city, overflowing any free or low-cost housing you pay for, and making it worse. What they need to do is govern more lightly. Cut taxes, regulations and fees to the bare minimum, and people will build what it is possible to build, and if it's their own money, they'll make it pay for itself. If it's state or city money, everybody involved in the project gets richer by being less efficient, which is the opposite of private, for-profit construction. Buy some land outside of town and build shelters. If you don't have a place to stay, there's a place for you, but you can't live in our streets and you won't be given a base of operations for your panhandling and your drug habit..
