  1. Yes, wasting money on migrants is stupid, but housing projects never turn out well, either. We already tried it in the '60s and '70s. You just make it possible for more homeless people to converge on your city, overflowing any free or low-cost housing you pay for, and making it worse. What they need to do is govern more lightly. Cut taxes, regulations and fees to the bare minimum, and people will build what it is possible to build, and if it's their own money, they'll make it pay for itself. If it's state or city money, everybody involved in the project gets richer by being less efficient, which is the opposite of private, for-profit construction. Buy some land outside of town and build shelters. If you don't have a place to stay, there's a place for you, but you can't live in our streets and you won't be given a base of operations for your panhandling and your drug habit..
