The "Communications Decency Act," itself, is a huge federal overreach. A huge violation of the 1st Amendment. Don't be distracted by Section 230. It's ALL bad.

This sanitization and politicization of the news has been going on since (at least) World War II, when the 1st Amendment was set aside in the name of fighting fascism. So, we installed government control of media and never looked back, BECOMING the fascists that we were told we were fighting.

How far back do you want to go? It was easier to censor when there were only 3 major networks (ABC, CBS and NBC), and they DID censor. It was just easier to hide, when there were only 3 main channels. There was a loss of control when cable came along and more channels proliferated. It took them a few years to do to cable what they did to the original networks, but they managed it, with the eager assistance of big-government liberals at the networks. Now the Internet presents another proliferation of channels, and they're doing their level best to funnel everyone to Big Tech platforms, which they can easily control, again, due to eager big-government liberals running Big Tech.

If you're on the left and you foment violence and hate, you're golden. If you're on the right and you oppose the violence and hate, well, your words themselves are violent hate speech.
