  2. I don't buy the "twisted sense of duty" idea. Sure, maybe after the fact, trying to justify themselves, but in the moment, it was all about tribe. This whole thing is shot through with protocol breaks, and higher-ups pushing through things that would never have passed the smell test to a competent staffer. Comey can say what he wants, but he can't talk away his signature.
