I just suspect he almost has to act as though he's on-board with the usual suspects just enough and in such a way as to keep his scalp and reluctantly accede to the will of the American people. Ukraine and Israel are both issues that are converging on a 2/3 majority, that cuts across party lines, just as neocon policies were bipartisan politics for decades before.
