@iNoodl3s A billion years is a long time. Things that tend to replicate will replicate. Earliest life forms of which we are aware would perish under prevailing conditions over most of the planet. There might be some insight from deep-sea vulcanism, but have you really plumbed the depths of the prevailing conditions under which life first appeared? The chemistry/temp/pressure variations that might exist naturally? We have seen enzyme precursors being created spontaneously under special conditions. There are just too many variables and too many "missing links" to be certain. Intelligent design is still as legit a claim as "it happened by random."
