It's not long covid that caused the great resignation. It's that the people had a chance to pause and re-think their lives, and decide they weren't getting paid enough for the work they were doing or that they hated the work environment so much, that the money was no longer the deciding factor. It's more cultural than medical, in my opinion. The USA went out of its way to NOT treat COVID cases aggressively. They'd send you home with some cough syrup and say "Come back when your lips turn blue," making a lot of treatable cases into Intensive-Care-Unit cases. UK is smaller. Maybe it's harder to hide stupid stuff. In the USA the health professionals could just say "I'm not the one to blame. This comes from higher up and 1500 miles away."
