MY bottom line is that there are private health-care companies that are on a cash-only basis, providing great care at a fraction of the prices that places that take insurance and medicare/medicaid charge. For starters, it cuts the amount of staff needed. No back-and-forths with insurers. No federal forms to fill out. Just "We did the work and here's your bill." Just doing that and they're easily on par with the costs of the Australias. The USA health care system is and has for a long time been heavily socialized. At the same time, it refuses to accept that it's socialized, so it contorts itself to keep up a pretense of private health insurance.
