  1. Yes. As a practical matter, the logistics for NATO victory on Russia's doorstep are prohibitive. Also, Western economies are stretched to the limit by peacetime mismanagement. Our politicians are writing checks that we can't afford to cash.

  3. USA is that "buddy" who eggs you into a fight or antagonizes somebody that gets you in a fight. "That other guy's a jerk. I've got your back." Then deserts you when 3 guys jump you more or less because of something he instigated. Ukraine's an education for the world, if the Kurds taught it nothing.

  4. Actually, if they'd followed Friedman's libertarian way, things would've turned out much better. Where did Friedman get it wrong? What you describe is not free-market capitalism or libertarian. Don't put those labels on America's "soft autocracy."
