@Deborah Hearne Christianity's semi-self-correcting, but you join the Church and the State, which has happened MANY times in the past, and they can be just as toxic. The saving grace of Christians is the underlying message from Jesus: If your reason and the dominant dogma are in conflict, use your reason. This is why there are so many off-shoots of Christianity, because as soon as you organize a church, the hierarchy starts setting in, and it becomes political. I think the charge against Jesus was laboring on the Day of Rest. He healed a woman on the Sabbath.

When you ARE the establishment, you cease being a liberal and become a conservative. Now that the "liberals" are the establishment, they are even less restrained than the reactionaries they replaced, when it comes to weaponizing government agencies to impose their political will.
