  16. We DO need better "history of Western Civilization," but one thing about these "obvious" questions is that there's SO much more to know, nowadays. It's increasingly difficult to be truly well-rounded. I feel that people are dumb as rocks, sometimes, and then they surprise the heck out of me with what they DO know. Dude doesn't know who Thomas Jefferson was, but he built his own 3D printer in the basement! That said, there should be some kind of "Citizen's Certificate" that certifies that you understand enough history and civics to vote responsibly. I just don't see it ever happening, and if it did, I can see it being used to exclude people. Maybe the rule ought to be "You've gotta put in more than you take out before you can vote." That would weed out the parasites and government employees, which would be a vast improvement over what we now have.

  24.  @JFK-ir7yz  We'll see. Maybe the tide is turning. Clearly, in Europe and UK, they can change leadership and nothing changes. I think Trump will honestly try to make change happen on many (not all) fronts. He tried the last time he was elected, and the establishment successfully stonewalled and sabotaged him. This time around, he understands much better what he's up against and has a much better (not perfect) team. The same kind of hysteria that overcame all reason the last 10 or 20 years has been identified by the public, and we have a lot more natural immunity to the blandishments of the political class.

Media that stick to government-insider-approved narratives. Nationalism used to energize foreign war. Regulatory web that punishes honest little guys and props up dishonest big guys. War on poverty that perpetuates poverty. War on drugs that perpetuates and intensifies crime and corruption associated with drug addiction... The list goes on and on. The people protesting the loudest are the same people who want government elites running everything, and see a fascist under every bush, but never in the mirror. If people truly understood fascism (the nationalist form of socialism), they would see Antifa as the tip of the fascist spear. They paper over what they're doing as internationalist socialism, but it truly is one and the same with the nationalist form, functionally speaking. Base it on class warfare or race warfare. and the end game is the exact same.
