Yes and no. Defeating the current establishment is pointless, if you become the same establishment in victory.

My take on the factions: 1. The "God Said" crowd. 2. The "our tribe" side. (Bending the knee on big government to win elections crowd.) 3. The "classical liberal" side. This is where I'm at. I want liberty and limited government. 4. The "security-state" side. This is uni-party, Dulles-brothers side. We won the Big War, and now we run the world crowd. There's a lot of slopover between the factions, but that's kind of the coalition. Faction 3 is Republican-voting, by default, because the Democrats are openly hostile to principles of liberty and limited government. Republicans are less hostile to those principles, but they have to be watched like hawks and called out when they show they like big government, as long as it does what the donor class wants.

@michaelwellen2866 That's part of the trick. The other part of the trick is keeping the institution smaller, so it can cause less harm. Give it less to do, rather than more, based on the principle: "Every problem the government solves today, morphs and metastasizes into a problem that's 3 times worse than the first, tomorrow." Every thing the government does for you, today, is just one more bad thing it can do to you, tomorrow. We see this in food. We see this in medicine. We see this in education... These are problems many times worse than the problems the government supposedly solves.
