The more time you give your kids, the more they want to please you. My rule of thumb is not to spank, unless you just caught the kid doing something that could get them (or the tribe) killed. A friend of mine never spanked his daughters until the one time they ran out into the street chasing a ball, and didn't stop when he yelled. I'm of the Horse Whisperer school. You should study his work with horses and later on, children. You might think differently about corporal punishment. Just because violence is bred into us doesn't mean corporal punishment is a good thing.
