  3. A rooftop of any sort does keep you up and away from most of the critters. But I've been happy with my 11x11 foot modified dome tent. Rooftop tent seems like a lot of work just to say you put a tent on your roof. Nice that you can un-bolt the Low and set it up on the ground. Probably a lot quieter, down on the ground. A lot of people report how noisy they are in the wind. I can usually sleep through any kind of racket, myself. The knowledge that I'm out of the wind but there IS strong wind is somehow quite restful, and it's like a lullaby.
