50 years ago, the establishment-right had a similar hold on all the levers of government, media and education, and our rebellious kids made fools of ALL of them. Of course, those rebellious kids knew only how to rebel, and didn't quite understand that just because the traditionalists were foolish dogmatists doesn't mean that throwing them out instantly means you replace them with something sensible and sustainable, let alone have the sense to tap the brakes when a small number of narcissistic assholes take what you started and take it places you never intended.
But at root, I think the libtard hippies just didn't have any sense of history (nothing to compare with our Founding Fathers), and so they rejected the old and were basically ignorant on what to replace it with. Limited government, tolerance, responsibility, individual rights are still good things, and the Baby Boomers threw out the baby with the bathwater, just because they had a few GOOD ideas like "War is bad" and "everybody should be equal under the law," both of which they lost sight of along the way, drunk on power and unchecked by reason.

We live in a different age. Judging by what's happening in Europe, where the decline has gone much farther, the more successful these corrupt bastards are, the more certainly they will be voted out. The USA is starting to wise up before things went half as far as in Europe, even though it really seems (and is) pretty bad. Left-wing hegemony over the public square is comparably total in the USA, but at the same time, voices of dissent are louder and start shouting before things go nearly as far as more conformist and authoritarian countries in Europe.
The mere FACT of "viral video" is something against which the establishment still hasn't found a solution, and so far, most of what they try ends up backfiring. The BEAUTY of the whole thing is the pseudo-science and feelings-over-facts phenomenon that infests the left also infests the manipulators at the top. They THINK they've crushed the one guy, say, Alex Jones, and they DID de-platform him, but now there's another million pissed-off people who will resist them even more. It's like We the People are HYDRA. Only HYDRA is the good guys, unlike in Marvel Comics Universe.
But they'll keep trying. They just have so many misconceptions built into their ideologies and so many absolute IDIOTS on their side, that they just can't get out of their own way. It's kind of like Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. They're SO entitled and SO sure of themselves and SO delusional, that every single victory brings them one step closer to ultimate defeat. They make it so that even the MOST passive and MOST disinterested and apolitical individuals just can't ignore what they're up to.
And every time they TRY to "relate" to us regular folks, it's just non-stop CRINGE. Really? Beta? Really? Have a beer with Elizabeth-the-shrew, after watching her with her husband in an unscripted 2 minute interaction? Really? You always carry hot sauce in your purse? The vast majority can't STAND those kinds of people, but generally leave them alone, until they insist they're one of US, when they're anything BUT one of us. And when they TRY, then REAL people see right through them as phonies, liars, or just out-of-touch weirdos we want nothing to do with. I feel sorry for half of them (the followers) and despise the other half (the self-styled leaders).
Things have gone much farther in Europe. We'll see how regressive and violent the right-wing reaction is. I think the USA is in good shape to just quietly steamroll the left into marginalized status by out-voting them and out-performing them. We represent meritocracy. They represent victimhood and special favors for select groups and individuals. In the long run, the merit beats the oligarchs. It's just a question of how barbaric the merit side decides to/has to get to prevail. Personally, I think the broad middle will just marginalize these lunatic power-seekers through sheer weight, using scorn, ridicule, satire and the ballot box. I hope I'm right.
