  2. Insightful take, Pink Puffin. It's like they have created mind-slaves so they can control them, but like the thugs in Batman comics, they really don't think for themselves, so they're unequipped to actually impose the will of their leadership on real people, who think for themselves.

  4. Yes. Even though we like to think their revolution was sister to our own, it wasn't, really. Of course, the excesses of the monarchy were much worse. We weren't under the heel of an out-of-touch monarchy. We were just pissed off at taxes! The Brits were stretched pretty thin, and they spent a lot on the French and Indian War, and were trying to recoup some of that. The French were spurred by famine and conspicuous consumption by the royals. Their revolution was much more visceral and violent.

  5. Agree, ALOSHY REJI, but one side is not permitted to speak, while they see their neighborhoods and way of life crumbling around them. It's easy to be open-handed with immigrants, when you go home at night to your gated community in the suburbs. It's not so easy when you live in a neighborhood the government decides to populate with foreigners, who bring their foreign ways, and seek to impose them on everybody around them.

  8. Big difference is the Hitler Youth were government-trained. I think public-school indoctrination is closer to Hitler Youth, although public schools try to dress up their bigotry and disrespect for human rights in warm and fuzzy clothing.
