  1. Yes. What we got was not an inept response. We got the inverse of a good response. Everyone at the policy level and everyone in "trusted" media did everything in their power to maximize the harm from COVID. Where I disagree with Bret is in his belief that the leaders need to be removed from power. What needs to happen is those powers should NEVER be vested in government agencies in the first place. If we don't pull the fangs of the power structure, kicking out the current rascals just opens the door for new rascals to abuse centralized powers that should never have been put all in one place in the first place. That's my issue with progressives in general. They always think the government should do MORE and it's just a matter of putting "the right people" in positions of power. Those positions of such great power should not exist. One person or a handful of people should NEVER be able to ruin things for everyone. This flows from the fallacy that one person or handful of people can FIX everything.

  2.  @jamesbarlow6423  Even the inept will get some things right. This was a total train wreck of a response. "Inept" isn't severe enough. But yeah. I'm done giving NIH, CDC, media, or political leadership the benefit of the doubt, and so "inept" doesn't cover it.
