  2. True. But their reach is growing less every day. A majority of Americans aren't paying attention to them any more and our first instinct is to conclude the opposite of whatever they're saying. Our institutions are lagging behind, so it doesn't SEEM that way. Don't judge the USA by what legacy media put on the telly.

  3.  @tin2001  Exactly. And the more the government behaves as though CNN/MSNBC/CBS/ABC/NBC are reality, the less credibility the government has. UK and Australia are going through this, now, but with fewer constitutional protections for their people and less ornery people, although Aussies and Americans are similar in many respects.

  5. Great idea! Get the government involved in regulating speech! Nah. Just let these dinosaur networks and print media wither and die for lack of viewership. There's big money behind them, so there's a lot of inertia. They can lose money almost indefinitely. But they will eventually be dropped because why prop them up if they're no longer useful?
