  2. The censorship has been going on since World War II. They were more subtle, and there were no alternatives to check against for most of that time. It's so much a part of government-media CULTURE that it's just the way things are done, and most of the people participating take it so much for granted, they're blatant about it. Just remember, any time someone brags about public-private partnership, they're advocating for a fascist model of governance.
