  3. "Woke" is the religion that emerged in the wake of rejection of Christianity. Deprive people of religion, they will find something ELSE to believe in without evidence. And like any young religion, you've got an outsized and outspoken "Puritan" contingent who try to - and typically succeed - in hijacking the thing for their own purposes, usually greed and ego, attacking their critics as subhuman heretics.
