Crime is way up, but there was never a shortage of law enforcement available for the purpose of shutting down businesses during lockdowns or harassing citizens for challenging the establishment narratives. FWIW, the pushers of those narratives and lockdowns are now pretending it was someone else pushing them.

  3. Mental state has always been a feature of the penalty phase of a trial. We never needed a separate category of "hate crime," until liberals decided to punish people for disagreeing with them.
