Very strange how their government is so much more authoritarian than ours, right now, but Sky News Australia is telling more of the truth than American media.

In fairness, they DID decide to change the definition of "gain-of-function research" when they decided they were going to break the law under the old definition. It's not technically gain-of-function research, since they re-defined it! It's so insidious and corrupt it makes me want to puke.

@Helix_22 The "control' of the CCP is way overrated. They can crush anything they don't like, but first they have to notice it. I think chances are good that a few generals knew about it, but the CCP knew/understood fuck-all about it. But the CCP leadership can't admit not knowing everything and controlling everything. That's the myth of socialism that people always miss. Everyone who's not under the microscope is essentially living free-market capitalism. There's just a layer of "don't get noticed" built into everything.

... which does little good in this world. Wouldn't you prefer to see something closer to Jesus' vision of God's Kingdom on Earth? And really, at root level, isn't what the government's doing somewhat irrelevant to the lives we build for ourselves and those around us? Asking for a friend.
