@denkerbosu3551 That's why I'm switching to Linux. The thing is, when you're a in a work situation, you're highly trained, and then you have to learn everything all over because they made it accessible to nitwits. I shouldn't have to re-learn how to sharpen a knife. It's all well and good for younger people, learning the crap for the first time, but for someone who's been doing computers and Internet pretty much since they were invented, they reached the point of diminishing returns a long time ago.

@pyramidion5911 Technology is good. The business models suck.

@PythonForLifeBoys Actually, you ARE forced to buy a new phone or PC darn near every year, any more. You ARE forced to "update" everything. You should be able to buy something and expect it to work and to be able to fix it if it breaks. The people who lecture us about the environment are trying to make everything disposable. Gross waste of resources.

The system is biased against competition entering the marketplace. Government regulations are part of it. It takes a billion-dollar company to be big enough to hire "compliance officers" who do nothing but keep track of government regs that change every freaking day. A small outfit can't hire 10 extra people for "compliance." But if you have 1000 employees, 1001 is no burden. If you're a sole proprietor or have 3 people under you, hiring even one extra person sinks your business.

@pyramidion5911 No. We're pissed off that things used to work better for cheaper and now they cost more and it takes 5 steps to do one thing when it used to be one step. You train yourself and learn all the keystrokes and then the "update" comes out and you have to go back to using the mouse or take a week to rebuild everything so it works like it's supposed to work. I'm working on a deadline and my software takes a shit because of the latest "upgrade" or "update." Imagine you have a favorite tool, somebody steals it, then gives you a broken tool. To cap it all off, they tell me "You're welcome!"

You are absolutely right. In the "new, improved" version, it takes 5 steps instead of 1 step, with the old version.

@joekerr6035 Suggestion: Go into Apps manager and start force-stopping as many apps as possible. Best answer is to just get the cheapest phone you can.

@lemonjz They haven't shitcanned the Galaxy 8, yet, but they will. I loved my Galaxy 3, but when the 2nd battery on it died, NOBODY had a replacement battery. So Samsung turned a perfectly good phone into a brick.

@IDEN7I7YCRISIS There's nothing a dishwasher that works needs updated.

@KenyoMurabu Usually, we don't capitalize the first letter of every word.

@arts3n I bought Acrobat Pro because it worked so well. Then I had to upgrade and the upgrade was WORSE than the original, but there's no going back, according to them. I hope you young people figure this out. They're ruined cars and computing.

@sznikers Yup. When you're in the middle of a big job on a deadline, you don't have TIME to re-learn everything. You don't have TIME to find where they hid everything. Microsoft and Adobe are at the top of my shit list for this kind of thing.

Exactly. An app for everything to make your life "simpler" just buries you in apps. They're not offering their app for YOUR convenience. They're offering an app to get their hooks into you.
